Our Story

SoulCraft is the passion project of a young married couple with a dream. What was first a hobby became a passion and then a business. Tyler has always been into coffee and owns a Slayer espresso machine at home. He loves dabbling in new and speciality coffees, learning the science and creating his own beverages for fun. In High School, he would buy vintage espresso machines off eBay with a friend, and they would rebuild and refurbish them, learning the ins and outs of how they worked. When he met and married Anna, she quickly shared in his love, and they ventured out together to try their hand at coffee on a larger scale. Together they briefly managed a small coffee shop in Baxter, and when that closed, they decided to take their show on the road. In 2017, they bought a vintage camper, converted it into a food truck style coffee trailer, and began traveling around Cookeville on evenings and weekends. The coffee trailer has a robins egg blue finish on the outside, and is branded with their signature art deco logo. You would see it parked on off of Lowe Ave by a local business, or outside of The Painted House on a weekend. Quickly the little blue coffee trailer became the talk of the town, and seeking it out an adventure for all the Cookeville coffee lovers.

Anna & Tyler continued to work full time jobs and manage the coffee trailer in their spare time, which quickly became a full time job in itself! The demand for great quality & unique coffee creations grew to the point they took a leap of faith and their entire life savings to open SoulCraft’s brick and mortar. The building on the historic westside that was built in the early 1900’s became their spot. The build out took a year of construction, restoration and design, bringing back to life original elements of the building including 100 year old hardwood floors and exposed brick walls. A color pallet of navy blue and gold accents the art deco style. An open floor plan gives space for an intentional and inclusive vibe, welcoming you from the first moment you open the doors. The smell of fresh baked poptarts and hot espresso drifts through the westside, basically begging you to come inside. In the summer of 2019, SoulCraft Coffee Shop was born!

Anna & Tyler

Picture this… it’s a cool evening in the spring of 2007. On the Cookeville HS Lacrosse field, ran Tyler. Anna, in the stands, asked her friends that went to CHS “who is that cute blonde haired guy?” They told her his name was Tyler Dunn, and Anna had an immediate crush. As high school romance goes, it wasn’t but a few hours before Tyler heard a cute blonde girl from the town over was asking about him at the game. They quickly started talking, spending time together and getting to know each other. Tyler finally gathered the courage to ask Anna out, and the rest is history. Together through college + grad school at TTU, big loss, marriage, a first home, family pets, new careers and shared dreams led them to SoulCraft! Welcome to their dream & home!

Preserving Cookeville History

  • Circa 1920.

Our building was built in the early 1900’s and was originally a photography studio! Over the years, it took many forms and housed many businesses. Preserving the history while putting our unique spin on it was extremely important as we brought SoulCraft to life.

  • Preservation.

Original Floors, original brick… bringing these elements back to life was no easy task. Below several layers of flooring including at least 2 layers of linoleum and 1 layer of carpet, lay the original hardwoods! What an incredible find, and quite the job to strip and fix.

  • Design.

Redesigning the space was such an intentional act, making sure to keep elements of the original building as much as possible, incorporating a relaxed art deco feel, and bringing all the personality of SoulCraft from the coffee trailer to a brick and mortar.

  • Build It.

Build it and they will come… These eternal words by Kevin Costner did not steer us wrong! The build out took a year, and walking in for the first time after completion was an experience we will never forget. We hope you love it as much as we loved creating it.
